Vale Steph Bowe

The LoveOzYA community has lost the beloved author Steph Bowe.  Steph was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic lymphoma in April 2019 and died this week. She was 25 years old.

Her first novel, Girl Saves Boy, was published when she was just 16 years old and she went on to publish All This Could End and in 2017, Night Swimming.

Many writers and the publishing community have paid tribute to Steph on social media, remembering her as a talent and beautiful person. YA author Gabrielle Tozer wrote on Twitter:

It is a sad loss of a wonderful voice in Australian YA, someone with so many stories to share. Her books will be there to reach readers and continue her legacy. Our condolences to her family and friends. We encourage readers to read her books in her honour and memory.

Steph recently posted this:

“In a way, it’s the really terrible stuff that makes life feel all the more enriched. Every positive moment is such a source of joy.”

I heard about this on Twitter :( It’s always really saddening to hear something like this.

Yes very sad. Sounds like she was a generous and creative spirit. Heartbreaking for her family and friends and a loss for book readers like us.

I own a signed copy of All This Could End. It's so hard to imagine that someone who seems so alive through their books could go so soon. So so sad.
