The new Artemis Fowl movie trailer

Th long-awaited Artemis Fowl movie is almost here! At least  – we have the trailer!

Directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Ferdia Shaw as the lead character, along with Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Colin Farrell, and Judi Dench, this movie promises all of the high-tech gadgetry, adventure, thrills and intrigue of Eoin Colfer’s original book series.

Of course in the process of adapting the book to screen there have been some changes.  Eoin Colfer is on board with that, saying, “The movie did add one thing that I wish I could add to the book … I can’t tell you exactly how, but they added a ticking clock element to the siege which makes it far more exciting. There were many other changes such as gender switches, plot twists, and backstory which I am one hundred percent behind.”

Many of the blogdogs and blinkies may have outgraown this series but I’m sure you’ll be there for the movie.  In cinemas May 28th 2020

So far, the trailer seems nothing like the books and as someone who did really enjoy the books, I feel like this is going to be more of a Percy Jackson level adaptation compared to a Harry Potter or LotR level adaptation.

It will be interesting to see how much of the world of the books comes through. It's taken a long time to make the movie which makes me wonder if there were some problems!
