Solli Raphael

I was fortunate to see Solli Raphael perform on the weekend at The Little Bookroom Kids Book Fest at Yarra Libraries.

Solli won the National Slam Poetry Title in 2017 at 12 years of age! In 2018 he performed at the Commonwealth Games Ceremony. Now, at 14 years old he has released a book of poetry and writing tips, Limelight.

Solli has a mission to “uplift, and to raise awareness across areas such as social equality, humanity and environmental protection” and does so through public speaking, workshops and poetry. He sees his poetry as a powerful way to call for action on environmental issues, social inequality and animal rights. Here is a snippet of his performance on the weekend recorded on my phone and shared here with permission from Solli. If you are interested in activism, poetry and performance, check out Solli’s webiste here and the Melbourne Spoken Word  website and look out for Solli’s book Limelight.
