Opportunity for Teens!

Calling all creative young people!

For the first year ever, MPavilion will have a young people’s planning committee for the 2019 season—which will open from 12 November 2019 until 22 March 2020.

MPavilion is Australia’s leading architectural commission and design event conceived and created by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation. Every year one new temporary pavilion, designed by a leading international architect, is erected in Melbourne’s historic Queen Victoria Gardens. Over summer, MPavilion becomes a design and cultural laboratory, and home to a series of talks, workshops, performances and installations.

The 2019 pavilion will be designed by eminent Australian architect Glenn Murcutt AO. His famous design motto is to ‘touch the earth lightly’. This will inform the themes explored in the programming season.

You can get involved in the programming season in two ways:

1.Join the young people’s planning committee.

The young people’s planning committee will meet fortnightly from June until the end of August. Meetings will be held at ACMI x from 5.30pm – 7pm. You will have the opportunity learn, explore themes, develop ideas and plan programs and events. Plus there’s free pizza!

If you’re interested in applying all you need to do is  email Jen Zielinska (jen@mpavilion.com.au) with a few lines about yourself and why you are keen to be involved.

2. Propose an event or program

If committee planning isn’t your thing, but you’ve got a great idea for an event or program that could be held at MPavillion this summer, you can submit your own proposal! It could be a concert, a workshop, a debate — whatever you like! Submissions are now open and close at 11.59pm on Friday 7 June. Check out all the details here!

Good Luck!
