LoveOzYA Events July/August

We are very fortunate in Melbourne to have a literary events calendar bursting at the seams. The next few months are no exception with many author events, book launches and library events for teens. So get ready to pencil these things in the diary!

Isobelle Carmody has written many novels and short stories for children and adults and has a host of award-winning novels to her credit. She began the first of her highly acclaimed Obernewtyn Chronicles while she was still at high school!

Celebrate with Eleni Hale, winner of the Readings Young Adult Prize

Now in its third year, the Readings Young Adult Book Prize was created to recognise and celebrate new voices in Australian Young Adult literature and considers the first and second books of YA authors across Australia. This year the winner is Stone Girl by Eleni Hale.

The Readers We Were, the Writers We Became

Readings has also got a fabulous Love OzYA author event with not one but FOUR authors! Adelaide YA authors Vikki Wakefield (Ballad For A Mad Girl) and Allayne Webster (The Centre Of My Everything) are coming to Melbourne to chat to Nova Weetman (Everything Is Changed) and Emily Gale (I Am Out With Lanterns) about their childhood and teen reading adventures, which books turned them into writers, recurring themes in their work, and so much more.

Readings is also hosting Book Launch of Graveyard Shift in Ghost Town by Michael Pryor.

Book launch Take the Shot.

Judith Rossell (author of the Stella Montgomery series) will launch Susan’s debut young YA novel. Take the Shot is a life-affirming and uniquely funny take on growing up following Bug, a basketball-obsessed 14-year-old boy, who’s diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, Marfan syndrome.
