‘Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.’ – Groucho Marx

Lost adults

Are you a lost adult? Maybe you used to use Inside a Dog and were hoping to reconnect with the site or you’re a teacher or parent of an Inside a Dog user (or potential Inside a Dog user) or just a curious bystander.

The goal of Inside a Dog is to be a virtual home for Australia’s bookish teens. There are lots of spaces where book lovers of all ages can come together to share their love of YA, but few which are for the ‘young adults’ the category is all about. This is part of the reason only 12-18 year olds can be registered users of this site. But you can still read all published content on the site, keep up with Inky Awards information  and general news, but you won’t be able to write content, comment or enter our competitions.

Even though you’re welcome to visit Inside a Dog, the best way to keep up-to-date with the Centre for Youth Literature, the Inky Awards and our other programs is to join our mailing list, which is regularly updated with information for teachers, parents and adult YA lovers.

Parents

If you are looking for more information about what your child is doing on Inside a Dog, or who is responsible for the site the following information should help:

Inside a Dog is an initiative of the Centre for Youth Literature at State Library Victoria. We are very proud of our teen-focused community, and endeavour to create a safe, fun space for users to connect with each other over their common love of books and writing. You can view the full Terms and Conditions for registered users of the website, or look at our User Guidelines which outline our policies in regards to your child’s privacy, copyright, their responsibility as a user of the site and our responsibility to them as the site administrators.

State Library Victoria is a Child Safe Organisation and is committed to creating a welcoming, respectful space for children. We also take a proactive approach to online safety. We actively educate and remind users on how to use the site responsibly, general internet safety and positive community building.
