Library Lovers' Day 2019

So you think February 14 is all about a tsunami of flowers and chocolates and unrequited love right? Well, here at Inside a Dog it is books that are our true love. So we are very pleased to let you know that February 14 is also ALIA’s Library Lovers’ Day. And I assure you, we are all library lovers here.So share your library love around!

The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) has announced that the theme for Library Lovers’ Day 2019 is ‘library love stories’ and there is a range of ways that you can get involved. Check out what your local library and even your school  has got planned. Some libraries have Blind Date With A Book Displays!

This year, ALIA is running a 200-word flash fiction story competition. The story can be about anything it just has to involve love and libraries and starts with the story prompt ‘there was love to be found in the library’.

We all know libraries are librarians are the best… so here are some ideas for sharing the love on Library Lovers’ Day:

Kindness bomb the shelves – hide sweet notes and messages in your favourite books!

Have a library get together with your friends and hang out in the library!

Make origami hearts bookmarks and leave at the library!

Give your librarian a thank you card!

You can spread the love with  #LibraryLoversDay and #LibraryLoveStories hashtags on social media.
