Kill Your Darlings School Writing Prize
Kill Your Darlings has launched the inaugural KYD School Writing Prize, which is designed to develop, mentor, edit and publish the work of two writers from Australian secondary schools.
From their website:
“We’re seeking entries of up to 1500 words in the categories of fiction and non-fiction, with students responding to a current social or political issue. The two winners will receive a $500 cash prize, editorial support and publication in KYD.
The award will be judged by KYD‘s publishing director and author Rebecca Starford, along with award-winning author and poet Maxine Beneba Clarke.
‘KYD was incredibly inspired by the recent climate protests led by secondary school students all over the country,’ Starford says. ‘We want to hear more from students about the issues that concern them. We are delighted to offer young emerging writers a publishing voice and a professional publishing platform with the KYD School Writing Prize.’
Entries for the 2019 School Writing Prize open on 23 April and close on 28 June, with the winners to be announced at a special event in August 2019.
Entry to the KYD Student Writing Prize is open exclusively to KYD School Members and their students. There is no additional entry fee. To find out more about KYD School Memberships, click here. “
