Inky's Fri-yay!

Weekly roundup of fun posts on the site

corgi puppies run towards a camera on the floor

Seeing you all creating blogs and writing posts like the champions you are is making me jump for joy! I’m all about creating new traditions as we grow our new home, and this is one you can expect to see every week. Each Friday I will roundup my favourite posts and herd them all here for you to enjoy.

Let’s kick off with a list of Sylvs most anticipated book releases and autumn TBR pile. What a list! There are so many here I’ve had a sneak peek of (like Obsidio and Legendary) that I can confirm are worth adding to your pile. Thanks for your list, Sylvs (also loving your list of what you’re listening to when you’re not reading).

Sheri has set herself some reading goals over on her blog. Three simple goals, one great idea. Anyone else got reading goals for the year?

Or maybe you’re more of a writer? Dottiq has excellent suggestions in her post Tips on how to get into writing daily. Thanks for the motivation, Dottiq.

Special props go out to Miekayaya who has already created and been made a contributor to a total of FOUR blogs! Space to fan out over Hunger Games, book recommendations, bookish problems and tales of Ladybug and Catnoir = big thumbs up from me. Wait. I don’t have thumbs…

I was excited to find this post by Otaku on feminism in YA, complete with recommendations to add to your TBR pile.

cute puppy holds love heart saying "love it"
I might be the top dog around here, but I’m not immune to cute puppies. Misslaella won my heart with her adorable profile pic this week!

And now for a PSA from Paradox on how to help someone recover from paperbook hangover. So kind of you to offer vital medical support on this much misunderstood condition, thank you.

I seriously always thought that my own writing was the worst! I'm sure yours is MUCH MUCH better. Just have faith in your imagination :)

Aww thanks <3 I'm hoping to ACTUALLY write stories. I have 3 ideas but big problem: they all start in the middle of the story. There is literally no beginning or end just the MIDDLE.

In reply to sylvs

Why not start it from the middle and work from there? I read a story that reads backwards

I'll try that out! I'll see if your idea works!

Same! Also Sylvs did bookwithbane 's idea work with your stories?

Kind of I decided that instead of having an "after after the middle" I decided to just make the middle the end. I sort of have a better idea as a trilogy instead of 6 books. Don't want it to drag on too long!

Sounds cool. You could make it like The Kane Chronicles or The Jewel Trilogy or The Hunger Games etc.

yup! It's pretty complicated at the moment. But I'm sure I'll work it out. I have another 2 books (well one of them really ought to be a Netflix tv show/Marvel since it's kind of superhero-y) but another one should be a really cheesy Disney romance (honestly it reminds me a lot of Enchanted)

Thanks, I just love seeing people express their passions and achieving their dreams. I'm sure if you get to be one (or all) of them, you'll do an AMAZING job! You're amazing from what I've read (on your posts), so I'm sure you'll be just as AMAZING in the stories.

Aww thanks!! <3 I really want to start going and doing writing competitions!! I really love challenging myself! I try working really hard with my writing! I did NaNoWriMo last year (NaNoWriMo = competition where you write 50,000 words in a month. Marissa Meyer wrote Cinder through this and Rainbow Rowell wrote Fangirl through this) and tried to write this "book that starts in the middle" and see where it would leave me. It was a really boring book that was 37,000 words long. I stopped before the 50,000 word mark. But I'm going to do it again this year in hopes to get this book going!

GRYFFFFFINDOR!!!!!!!! But honestly I think I'm a Hufflepuff. I took so many Playbuzz quizzes and TA DA I got given this result (as well as a quiz on pottermore)

In reply to sylvs

Well I'm pretty sure both of those houses are pretty determined... so..... it works for either. But tbh I reckon you'd be Hufflepuff. You're really friendly and kind. You seem to get along with everyone.

Heading to bed... in NSW it's almost 9:30!
