INKY'S FRI-YAY SEPTEMBER 7!

Just when I had finally gotten over my excitement about the Inky Shortlist announcement, I remembered that it’s LESS THAN A MONTH until we announce the WINNERS and I got excited all over again!

You’ve still got time to vote! Voting closes on Sunday 16 September, just over a week away. And remember, if you vote you go in the draw to win a complete longlist book pack! TWENTY BOOKS!

More exciting news: in a couple of weeks the Centre for Youth Literature and Express Media are hosting Story Camp, a writing workshop program for 12 to 15-year-old students from eligible schools. If that sounds like your cup of tea (um, hello, isn’t it everyone’s?), head to the Story Camp website to check your eligibility and register your interest!

Not enough excitement for you?? Well, you might have noticed that we post a writing prompt each week to help spark new ideas for stories, and I’ve certainly noticed that you folks have been posting heaps of great creative writing. I want to say a great big THANK YOU for your words, and encourage you to KEEP WRITING, so I’m going to be giving away some books!

Have a go at writing something based on one of the writing prompt posts (try saying that fast five times). It can be whatever you want: a story, a poem, a song. It doesn’t have to be perfect, or even finished, just have a go! Post your writing on your blog with the tag ‘prompts’, and you will go in the draw to win two books from the Inky Shortlist! We’ll be drawing the winner on Monday 24 September.

Speaking of great new writing, here are a couple of choice reads from around the site. Inky Shadow Judge rexrooster has been writing some fan-fiction — can you guess the source of inspiration for his work? Poppy continues to inspire us with excellent quotes every day, plus she has some pretty ~strong~ feelings about the Melbourne cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

And sylvs is back again with two more reviews! This week, she’s reviewing Neverland and Stalking Jack the Ripper. You must be absolutely demolishing your TBR pile, Sylvs!

Exciting times ahead! Happy writing, happy reading, happy weekend!
