‘Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.’ – Groucho Marx

Inky's Fri-yay May 10th

Well it’s been a week of meteor showers and royal births and famous people dressed in ridiculous costumes. But forget all that – I know what you are interested in is BOOKISH NEWS! Well the big news is that Readings Book Store is seeking applications for their TEENS ADVISORY BOARD and I know many of you that blog here would be perfect for the job so please CHECK IT OUT!

Okay the theme for this Fri-yay is obviously going to be CAPITALS and BOLD text which I know is a bit shouty but it’s just how I am today.

The Inky Shadow judges continue to deliver their reviews on the longlist and this week we have not one, but FOUR REVIEWS! After the Lights Go Out reviewed by (appropriately enough!) lightanddark, The Art of Taxidermy reviewed by booklover, The Cruel Prince reviewed (again, appropriately enough) by lightanddark and Navigating the Stars reviewed by (appropriately enough!) by lightanddark. Thanks Shadow Judges! We couldn’t do this without you! And of course the big question is – will lightanddark only review books that match their blogger name?

This week we have our reliable Word of the Day posts to extend our vocabulary. My favourite this week was SEROLOGY because the sample sentence is brilliant: ‘The vampires might have studied serology had they not been so tempted to drink the test samples.’  And that of course gives me an excuse to add a BUFFY GIF!

Is that FLASHING LIGHT BULB GIVING YOU A HEADACHE? Sorry!

Also on the site we have The Wonderful Wizard of Oz retold and more inspirational PLAYLIST and RECOMMENDATION joy from chelcyg – this time it’s the 90’s which of course gives me an excuse to use a Clueless gif!

Okay everyone! That’s it from me for another week. Thanks for all the great posting! TAKE CARE! CHOOSE KIND! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!

I hope some of you got to see a shooting star and to make a wish!
