Inky's Fri-yay May 1

PINCH, PUNCH, FIRST OF THE MONTH!

Welcome to May. March went forever and April flew. Who knows what May will be like in these topsy turvy times. Time really is relative, or so Einstein would have you believe. But then, Einstein never lived through 2020! I mean – what’s next? Have you seen the UFO videos from the Pentagon? Are we taking predictions on First Contact? You know what? Nothing right now would surprise me!

If you’re stuck for something to do in while stuck at home why not check out quarantine things? Comment on what you are doing and share some ideas. Origami? Cooking? Crochet? Puzzles?

Over at Library101 is an exploration of all things Cassandra Clare! Are you a fan? Or a newbie to the shadow world? Want to know the deal with adaptations and spinoffs? Then Library101  this week has you covered!

Meanwhile, at Writing101 is a cry for help! Writer’s block! What to do? Ideas? Go and help blogdog and blinkys! You know – it’s a tough one. I think you have to trick your mind into forgetting you are ‘writing’. Sometimes the consciousness of that can be overwhelming.Getting your brain back into creative mode isn’t easy when it is feeling pressured. Anyone got some tips? Have you explored the How-to blog? Lots of writer-ly things there!

Now for some REVIEWS!

We get good reviews and bad reviews but best of all – honest reviews. And we want to open up discussions. This week delivers on all fronts! Thanks!

You will find that imosshelf always has a finger on the pulse when it comes to new releases and this latest review is no exception. The book was released 3 days ago! But our favourite bookworm is already onto it! Confessions of a Readerholic joins in the #AusYABloggers book tour with a reivew of The Year The Maps Changed by Danielle Binks. Just got my hands on this one myself! Yay! If you like heartwarming and hopeful and historical this one is for you.

Now for an honest review from sylvs at NOVELty reads reviewed A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan – but be warned! There be giant spoilers ahead! This week we have another review there – a more glowing review- of an upcoming new release, The Knockout by S.A. Patel.  If you are unfamiliar with NOVELty reads I encourage you to explore the reviews there. All reviews are informed and discerning! Go sylvs!

Now, as it is the passing of one month to the next, we get to see what zitongreads read – only 21 books this April. Slacker! This monthly post is always a great place for book recommendations and zitongreads is an expert in fantasy and historical too. So check it out if you are looking for the next great read!

Another end of the month event around here is the discussion for Between The Pages Book Club. This month’s book is Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson. Newcomers are welcome! And speaking of welcome…

a BIG WELCOME to all new registrations on the site. Just so you know, we call you all blinkies or blogdogs! And we never make you fight to the death…well, almost never.

I encourage you all to check out the new online platform for Australian YA authors called oz authors online. Lots of launches, discussions and events that we can go to from our homes! There has already been some terrific books launched in April – yes I know I need to update the data base!!!

Happy reading, writing and whatever else you are up to this week.

Happy 1st of May!

Good luck with online school and being at home.

Stay well! Stay safe! Be kind!

And see you in the comments!

I've been doing lots of creative things - knitting, crochet, embroidery, cooking, painting... I'll stop there. I also did some writing again the other day, but it certainly wasn't my best. At least I wrote something! My main problem with UFOs is that they could be anything, they're an Unidentified Flying Object. They could be shoes for all we know! still, the prospect of something exciting is definitely welcome right now.

I love that idea - UFO's are just the shoes an alien kicked off into space after a hard day on her feet!!!!
