‘Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.’ – Groucho Marx

Inky's Fri-yay March 27

In these trying time, we will start today’s post with an OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE DOCTOR.

Okay – so like the Doctor asked – please post BAD JOKES. We need them now more than ever.

Are you all home and bored out of your brains (extroverts)? Or self isolating happily in self contained ways (introverts)? Or swinging between the two (undecided)? So far I’ve been going on long bike rides twice a day to replicate the commute to work. Oh and everyone talks of keeping a routine but it’s pretty hard right? Whatever you are doing, be kind – including being kind to yourself! How many times do we hear the commentators and politicians say ‘unprecedented’? And so it is. It will take some time, experimenting, adjusting and adapting before we know how best to deal with it. So give yourself time for all of this. Allow yourself to feel the feels. The disappointment at sport being cancelled. Possibility of missing school life. The anxiety about pressure of learning online. Missing your friends – and of course the worry about the pandemic. We’re all in this together. Be kind to others and yourselves!

Below is all you bookish folk reacting to staying home. Are these the days when you will actually get through that TBR pile?  I mean, at least there are books right? And don’t forget e-resources from your local library!

Things have been quiet around here – of except for alissaa’s shouting.

Please go and give her some attention!

And we can always rely on Our Favourite Bookworm over at Confessions of a Readerholic. Two new reviews there for whatever your mood – we have the positive upbeat Australian contemporary Taking Down Evelyn Tait by Poppy Nwoso and the emotion-inducing The Surprising Power of A Good Dumpling by Wai Chim. Thanks imosshelf!

sekhmet shares some Maria V Snyder love over at Books I’m Reading  and expands the reading scope to autobiography with the inspiring My Polar Dream by Jade Hameister. Over at the  believe in books blog, sekhmet discovers a YA classic and kiwi from Kiwi’s Book Reviews, looks at the series To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. And kiwi also gives us a corona virus PSA at Kiwi’s Life.

Wash your hands! Don’t touch your face! Stay safe! Be kind!

I just read "don't touch your face"... while resting my chin on my hand. I would facepalm, but I'm not allowed to do that!

I know - every time I think "don't touch your face" I am in face touching my face!

I discovered just how extroverted I am this week; when I was sick of lockdown by halfway through the first day. But I have also been going on lots of long bike rides! And I have so many books to read.

I've been finding bike rides are good too! I haven't settled into a routine for work from home yet and feel very distracted all the time.
