‘Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.’ – Groucho Marx

Inky's Fri-yay January 10

Okay so it’s summer holidays and guess what? This post is coming to you from a mysterious holiday destination where there has certainly been some relaxing in the sunshine.

Six or so dogs lay in relaxed positions around and in a swimming pool. They are at a chill dog party.

Dog party!

Thanks for the suggestion of names for IAD bloggers! So far I love Blinkys and blogdogs so we might have to put it to a vote.

I know there have been some tensions in the world and it is hard to not focus on the tragedy of the fires and the terrors of climate change right now. I can’t wait for you blogdogs and blinkys to be able to vote. I would encourage anyone who is feeling anxious or upset about the word right now to reach out and talk about it. I would also like to encourage you all to keep reading and writing. Reading builds empathy, expands the brain and sharing books builds community and these are all things that will help make this world a better place.

And yes, there may have been some reading on my holiday too…

But here on Inside a Dog we are not in holiday mode at all! We have posts that prove what intelligent, creative and discerning readers you all are.

We have got  romance RANTS (go sylvs!) and cancel culture discussions (thanks guppy!) and insightful reviews tackling problematic subject matter. (imosshelf is on to something here) and books that tackle big issues here and here.

In other reviews we have fantasy reviews over at Confessions of a Readerholic and at NOVELty Reads and the much anticipated soon to be released Infinity Son here.

For science fiction fans, sekhmet has a recomendaton (I’m going to read this one!) and another one for crime/thriller fans. We also have a 5 out of 5 no spoiler review on Literature Island.

And who doesn’t love a fairy tale rewrite? (In fact – just putting it out there that a fairy tale rewrites would make a good listicle.)

For extra reading we have the beginning of a new adventure here with Timekeeper over at Stories from Scratch  the final chapters in For me, For You over at Library Writing.

Thanks everyone for all your wonderful content, comments, blogs, rants, reviews and recommendations. You are the best blogdogs ever!

blinkys and blogdogs are both cute! hope you've been enjoying your holiday reading. i'm reading a 600 and something page book at the moment and it's really good but hard to get in to.

So far this year I have read four books. I read the first in a series that was great but the sequel was disappointing (so often the case!). I read out of my comfort zone too - a classic detective book that I really enjoyed!
