Inky's Fri-Yay August 2

Okay, let me just get my head around this. It is Friday, and it is August, which means it isn’t July anymore, which means there are only SIXTEEN DAYS LEFT TO VOTE IN THE 2019 INKY AWARDS! Have you voted yet? Not only do you get to have your say in the only teen voted book awards in Australia, but you can also go into the draw to WIN the 20 books on the 2019 Inky Awards Longlist. I mean, do I need to say more? Do you need more incentive? Do I need more CAPITAL LETTERS? CAN YOU HEAR ME? DO YOU GET THE IDEA HERE? YOU GET TO VOTE ABOUT BOOKS AND WIN BOOKS! It’s all sort of bookish deliciousness! VOTE HERE!

And speaking of bookish fun, do you know about The Between The Pages Book Club convened by Sylvs?  The book this month is The Gentleman’s Guide To Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee. Have you read it? Did you love it? Well don’t just tell me about it – go and join in the book club DISCUSSION THAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW! The Between the Pages Book Club is everything we hoped Inside a Dog to be. Thanks Sylvs! Hooray for book lovers!

Slyvs is also a fellow capital letter enthusiast (YAY!) and over at NOVELty Reads she tells us which books the NEED to become anime series while over at Confessions of a Readaholic we have a wonderful review of the dystopian book Genesis from Inky Shadow Judge and Favourite Bookworm imosshelf. And there is a cry for help!  spidergwen is asking for book recommendations – I mean, come on people! If there’s something we can do it’s book recommendations right? Get over there and suggest some of your favourites! Is there anything better than sharing a book?

So many wonderful things happening here! I never want to leave! Do I ever leave? Or is Inky ALWAYS HERE? I must not think about this too much or else I will have a dog existential crisis! Yikes! Fortunately I can distract myself from such thoughts with fanart. And so can you! We have fanart right here! Some Land of Stories fanart from alexbailey and fanart for Inky Shortlisted Whipser  from Inky Judge Alisa which author Lynette Noni tweeted that she LOVES!

“What else is there?” I hear you ask. Well, we have some writers competitions you could enter in August, we have book launches and events and the Melbourne Writers Festival YA Day and not one, but TWO writers workshops in the next school holidays HERE and HERE. Phew! And if that’s not enough, don’t forget that you can come to the 2019 Inky Awards Ceremony on Wednesday September 4!

So much bookish wonder! Don’t you just love books?

Have a great weekend and see you all next week!
