‘Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.’ – Groucho Marx

Inky's Fri-yay 15 June!

Howdy all! What’s been happening around here lately? A lot.

Today our post about Erin is the first day of our Meet the Judges series on the Inky Awards blog. Over the next few weeks you’ll be able to read more about the fantastic team we’ve assembled. Our regular judges have to read all twenty of the Inky Awards longlisted books and come together in a few weeks to whittle that list down to ten books. Until they have completed that process they are in a cone of silence about their opinions on the books they are reading. Our shadow judges are a team of reviewers who will be reading a few titles from the longlist and sharing their opinions about the books as we head towards the announcement of the shortlisted titles. You’ll start to see their reviews, responses, reactions, fanart, reading updates and random offerings on the Inky Awards blog.

In fact, one of our Inky Awards shadow judges Paradox has written a new poem inspired by One of Us is Lying,  which I’m loving. And here is a new poem by Sheri.

Meanwhile, Ladybird has big news mateys. They had to reconsider their favourite books list on their Inside a Dog profile! A new title has snuck onto the list… what had to be dropped? It’s a series of impossible choices.

Check out Ideas in Reading and Writing for Teens, a brilliant new blog where you can discuss things such as representation, #teenstothefront and issues of concern for young readers. The first post by Dottiq, Listing the Cliches, is a great exploration of those tropes that just keep coming back.

If you’re keen on writing short stories, The Sandpit of Stories is a new blog looking for contributors. Constructive feedback on writing is welcome. Damnedmonkey has kicked things off with their story Garden of Death: An Introduction.

Otaku has written the next instalment in their TBR updates. Loads of great books on this list, and they’re looking potential buddy readers for an E. Lockhart series.

Rhapsody turned their attention to webcomics sharing their thoughts on 2017 Silvery Inky Award winner Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper.

Keiraceleste has been reviewing Valentine and updating us on developments in the series. Siena has added her Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda review to the impressive collection on the site now. Is this book our most written about? Checking out the book page (where underneath the book information you can see posts written about a novel by anyone on the site) it’s certainly a possibility!

Marvel Mothership has been dissecting Five Times When Drax Didn’t Read the Situation and exploring Captain America. Who doesn’t love geeking out over all things Marvel?

And finally, don’t forget to enter our YA book giveaway! Winning is as simple as posting on any Inside a Dog blog, then cutting and pasting the URL of the blog post into a comment on this post. Get writing!
