INKY FRI-YAY SEPTEMBER 21!
Only TEN DAYS until we announce the winners of the INKY AWARDS! Anyone else excited??
The awards ceremony will be held at State Library Victoria at 1pm on Tuesday 2 October. If you want to come along, head to the State Library website to book your tickets — it’s free! But there’s only fifty seats available, so you better snap them up quickly. Heaps of the Gold Inky shortlisted authors will be there to answer all your questions in a massive Q&A session. How exciting!
At the ceremony, we will also be announcing the lucky Inky voter who has won the longlist book pack.
Oh and speaking of giving away books… I want to do more of it! So I’m going to give away two Inky-longlisted books to one of the amazing writers on this site. To be in the running, simply post some creative writing on your blog with the tag ‘prompts’. We will draw the winner on Monday 8 October.
If you’re stuck for ideas, check out the Writing Prompts posts by the Centre for Youth Literature staff. We’ve got tips and tricks for writing about landscape, writing letters and crafting dialogue. We can’t wait to read all your work.
Oh and speaking of reading your work (another flawless segue, you’re welcome)… there’s been more amazing writing and artwork posted across the site this week. Sylvs is at it again, posting a plethora of reviews, plus some stunning drawings. For all those anime fans out there, she’s done this incredible drawing of Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul. If you are a fan of Inky-longlisted novel Warcross, check out Sylvs’s review of the sequel: Wildcard.
And if you need a little extra spring in your step, check out Poppy’s excellent Just a Quote blog for your daily inspo. Thanks for keeping us feeling uplifted and inspired, Poppy!
Happy weekend everyone! Happy reading, happy writing!
