Guest Post: 5 mini reviews

Guest Post : Emily Meade

Last year I wrote a mini-review of every book I read. To give you plenty of books to add to your TBR, here is a mini-review of every book I’ve read so far.

  1. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

When Dimple Met Rishi is the ultimate geeky rom-com between two Indian-American teens at a coding camp during the summer. Their love-to-hate relationship is so adorable and I would like a movie pronto.

cover of Ramona Blue

  1. Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy

This book includes things like swimming, being poor, the fluidity of sexuality and complex family relationships. It’s so, so beautiful and it’s set against the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina. Definitely recommend.

  1. Waking Gods by Sylvain Neuvel

This sequel includes a lot of aliens, a LOT of death, a lot of plot twists and even more questions than I had last time. Though I didn’t like it as much as the first book, it still blew my mind, and I’d recommend it to anyone who loves The Illuminae Files.

  1.  Far From You by Tess Sharpe

Far From You switches between past and present, converging to the night when Sophie’s best friend Mina was murdered. Trying to figure out what happened that night is interspersed with snippets from her phases of addiction and rehab, and it’s such a page-turner.

Cover of Tash Hearts Tolstoy

  1. Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee

This book features an asexual main character (yes!), a modern Youtube adaptation of Anna Karenina, lots of pop culture references and amazing friendships. Would recommend to anyone and their dog.
