The Midnight Zoo

Her muzzle wrinkled, and Andrej saw a glimpse of teeth and pale tongue. 'They smell the same, ' the lioness murmured. 'My cubs smelt as she does. Like pollen.' She breathed deeply again, and Andrej saw the missing cubs returning to her on the wings of the baby's perfume. 'All young ones must come from the same place,' she said: then sat down on her haunches, seemingly satisfied.

Under cover of darkness, two brothers cross a war-ravaged countryside carrying a secret bundle. One night they stumble across a deserted town reduced to smouldering ruins. But at the end of a blackened street they find a small green miracle: a zoo filled with animals in need of hope.

A moving and ageless fable about war, and freedom.

I would give this book 4 stars altough it does get quite confusing and I don't have time to go back and read it again. Most of the book has absoloutly no movement the stay ina a zoo and do nothing but listen to the animals. The main problem is that you can't tell who's talking because most of the time there is none of these fancy speach marks " " and the plot is a war but you only find out what hapeend to the village halfway through the book.

The most important thing is its one of those books with a shaby ending like "It was all a dream" or in this case they all die from a bomb. Oh how sad. I still didn't mind reading this book and that is why a gave it a better than 2 star rating but we don't know enough about the charaters with no idea what anything looks like it can get hard too visualise. I gave this 3 stars partly becase I think it sound like a cool place and If you like a book by someone who likes logic then this is for YOU! (but not for me realy)

This book I was dissapointed because it didn't tell you much about the begining and it just started like Andrej and tomas blah blah so I was like whos Andrej and tomas. I got so lost and I constantly had to turn the page backwards to read it again and again to understand or get the book.  Its deffinetly not one of my favourites

To be honest I got very lost during this book. I felt there was an ever changing storyline from saving themselves, to Alice and the escape, it was too confusing.

But I do admire the use of discriptive language and setting the scence.

All in all I felt the book was not ended and was not complete.
