Faking sweet is about a girl called Holly who moves to Sydney from Melbourne and starts at her best friend’s old school. She already knows about the cliques at her new school because her best friend, Calypso had filled her in back in Melbourne. Calypso had a bad friendship with one of the popular girls at her school in Melbourne and she plots a revenge plan for Holly to carry out in Sydney. When the plan turns lopsided, Holly has to figure out who her friends are and who is faking it.
I think this book is a really good read for girls aged 13-16 because it relates to everyday lives while having a really unusual storyline and complication. I rate this book an 8/10 because I think it is a really good holiday read.
Faking sweet is about a girl who starts a new school is Sydney but because of her best friend in Melbourne, Calypso, she already knows what she has to do. Holly doesn’t spend her time in Sydney trying to fit in and make new friends. Instead she carries out Claypso’s revenge plan on Jess Flynn. But as Holly gets to know Jess she discovers that she is not a bad person but is actually very nice. This is when Calypso’s plan backfires on her. Who are Holly’s real friends? Calypso or Jess?
I absolutely loved this book and could not stop when I started it. It is a great romance book and relates real life to life displayed in stories. It really makes you think about why you believe someone when they tell you something and why you trust that person. I recommend this book to everyone in yr 6+ and I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I did.
