Dog's Advisory Board: Found Poetry

Jun 05,2017
Printer-friendly version

Recently the DAB spent some time talking (and writing really incredibly good) found poetry. Wikipedia says found poetry "is a type of poetry created by taking words, phrases, and sometimes whole passages from other sources and reframing them as poetry by making changes in spacing and lines, or by adding or deleting text, thus imparting new meaning."

So, bearing that in mind, the DAB took to Wikipedia to find random articles to re-frame into their own found poetry. Teagan wrote a poem about societal expectations placed upon women, which she lifted from the Lampides lacteata Wiki entry. Teagan decided to incorporate blackout poetry into her work as well, and the result is so great we had to share it with you. (P.s. Lampides lacteata is a small bluish-purplish butterfly found in India!)
