About Inside a Dog

Run by the Centre for Youth Literature at State Library Victoria, Inside a Dog is a community hub for bookish teens where they can share their love of reading and books.

Our Community Guidelines outline the responsibilities involved as a user of the site, and our responsibilities to you as the site moderators.

What can I do on the site?

You can create blogs to share creative writing, discuss your favourite books and invite friends to collaborate.

You can also:

  • join online workshops
  • be inspired by regular writing prompts
  • interact with guest writers in residence
  • hear about upcoming events and opportunities
  • enter competitions
  • connect and collaborate with people who love books as much as you.

What is the Centre for Youth Literature?

The Centre for Youth Literature (CYL) is a national organisation connecting Australia’s young people with literature, inspiring young adults to engage with books, stories, writing and ideas. We champion youth literature and young adult views in the wider cultural community.

We work with many YA writers to deliver our programs, and love connecting readers to these writers to develop their own skills and creative work. Inside a Dog is a teens-only site but CYL staff are always here to facilitate and help, commenting, sharing and building your skills and understanding of writing and publishing.

If you have any questions about Inside a Dog, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Although this is a site for teens, we also have more information for interested adults about how the site works.
