2018 Aurealis Awards

The Aurealis Awards recognise the achievements of Australian science fiction, fantasy and horror writers and the 2018 winners have been announced!

The overall big winner for best Science Fiction Novel is none other than Gold Inky Award Longlisted book Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff. Looks like we are not the only ones who love this book!

Best Young Adult Novel 
is Catching Teller Crow, by Ambelin Kwaymullina & Ezekiel Kwaymullina, a brilliant book that melds speculative fiction, poetry with a detective narrative.

The winner of Best Collection AND Best Graphic Novel/Illustrated Work was Tales from The Inner City, by Shaun Tan and winner of Best Children’s Fiction is The Endsister, by Penni Russon, a novel about a family and a haunting that would appeal to teens and children.

Another YA favourite author, Garth Nix, won best fantasy novella for The Staff in the Stone. There was a tie for Best Fantasy Novel – 
 City of Lies, by Sam Hawke (Penguin Random House) and
 The Witch Who Courted Death by Maria Lewis.
