What would you do if you were a twelve year old boy who was rescued by a Japanese soldier when you fell down a hole and no one believed you? well this excact thing happend to Joey Smith. Soldier on the Hill is written by Jackie French.
Soldier on the hill is about a younger boy who has just moved to a town called Biscuit Creek. At the start of the book Joey falls down a hole and believes that he was rescued by a Japanese soldier. But no one else will believe him. He then becomes friends with Joey and myrtle. When he becomes friends with them wierd things begin to happen such as Joes checkered shirt goes missing and so do his rabbits. Joey then realises that the Japanese soldier was wearing that checkered shirt when he was rescued bythe soldier. In the middle of the book Joe is saved by the Japanese soldier when he cuts his hand with his axe. In the end of the book Joey and Myrtle find the Japanese soldier dead after a horrific storm.
This book is most suited from younger to teen readers.
I think that the book was good at the start and the end but dragged on for ages in the middle.
