‘They told me I had to write this’ is a story about a teenage boy named Clem. He lives with his father and has been sent to a school for ‘toxic teens’. He doesn’t have a great relationship with his father, but he is the only family left, as his mother died when he was born. He feels rejected by his father and is often accused of the death of his mother. He visits the school counsellor on a regular basis who told him to start writing letters when something is troubling him that he doesn’t feel comfortable telling anyone. He decides to write the letters to his Grandma who recently passed away. Through the letters you follow Clem’s story including girls, his father and a secret which has been bothering him since he was in year 5.

This novel was a bit of a challenge for me but I still really enjoyed reading it. I would recommend it to someone else looking for a challenging read.

I have read Holes by Louis Sachar, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a story about a boy, Stanley, who is accused of stealing and therefore is sent to Camp Green Lake. To make life better Stanley has a family history of bad luck. At Camp Green Lake the boys must dig a hole every day which must be five feet wide and five feet deep. None of them know what they are digging for but they do know not to ask.

I have read 'Looking for Alibrandi' by Melina Marchetta and really enjoyed it. This story follows Josephine through all her struggles and her fun times as a teenager at high school. Josephine lives with her mother in the southern suburbs of Sydney, she has an italian background and a very traditional family. This book has also been turned into a movie, but I definetly suggest that you read the book first. This book really draws you in, when you are reading it I can guarantee  you'll be completely captivated by the wonderful storyline and the great characters. I would definetly recommend this fantastic novel.
