Author:  James Jones

it tells of a tale of an american rifle company that is sent to an island called guadalcanel during there stay in guadalcanel this rifle company has to face a japanese assult to control the island, bad weather, losey sleeping areas and also the fact they will see there best friends kick the bucket(die in action).

As you read through this book you get the fealing that you are there with them and you can also feel what is going through there minds and they are faced with unknown situations and nere inposable tasks that they have to face.

Some of the things that these young men would have gone through are loss of sleep, dangers dieases, unclean clothes, stale to no food at all, weeks on end in the front line, some of the main chariters are brilliantly set up to make you feel that you are acutaelty there with all of the men and you can see what they are they are haveing to face every day.

I would recamend that this book is given to children aged between teen age years to an edlery years of your life but I do have to warn that this book does contain words that should not be used in public areas do to the fact they are not sutable for young children to use.

as i read this book I really a feeling of what it would have been like in the pacific faceing a larger force than what you have.

as i read this book i really got draw into this story and i really started to think what they would have to face in the enviuorment and the weather that they had to fight in.

So to someup this review I was really struck by the fact that these men didn't see there family for years as they fought for freedom an the right to live life as a free person and have the rights of an average person has they also were sent into the battle not knowing what numbers they were faceing and what risk they were having to face as the fought for survival through there tour of service in the pacific.
