This series is AMAZING!!!!!! I love them so much.
Rose is in the middle of her field experience when ghost of people she knew are breaking through her bond from the world of the dead. Her shadow-kissed bond also means that she is linked to her bestfriend Lissa, who weilds the power of spirit and bought Rose back from the dead after a car crash that killed Lissa's family. A year earlier While Rose was under a spell, Lissa was kidnapped and forced to use her spirit powers to heal a family friend,Victor Dashkov, and his trial was coming up and Rose and Lissa weren't allowed to go. Rose, who was the unfortunate object of Adrian Ivashkovs attention, only had to ask him and all of a sudden they were allowed to go to the trial, little did Rose know that the Moroi queen is Adrians great-aunt and he is her favourite nephew. At the trial Victor is found guilty and they soon leave the royal court and head back to St.Vladmirs, where she gets back into the field experience. As the field experience comes to an end, Lissa is asked to join a secret royal organisation but declines, but when the other royals keep nagging her she decides to go to a meeting only to find it isn't what she thought it was. The organisation is using Compulion, a gift that only Moroi can use and torture Lissa until she uses it. Fortunately Rose feels through the bond what is happening to Lissa and stops Lissa before she hurts someone but unfortunately the anger Lissa is feeling passes through into Rose and kno she is out of control. As the Guardians realise what has happened to Rose, Dimitri (her teacher and the man she loves) takes her away from everyone and calms her down but now they are alone and things happen.
Afterwards, Rose and Dimitri leave and find that there are Strigoi on campus and a huge fight happens between the Guardians and the attacking Strigoi. In the end many are killed and some people are missing and Rose persuades the older Guardians to launch a rescue mission and she is allowed to go with them. As they attack the caves that the Strigoi are in the captured slowly escape but as the Guardians retreat Dimitri is taken and doesn't make it out of the caves. Rose has made a promise to Dimitri and decides to keep it, by leaving St.Vladmirs and Setting out to kill him. Dimitri is a Strigoi and Rose has to kill him.
