The time has come for this young hero to be tested
Bracing for a final clash with the evil warlord Morgarath, the Rangers rally the kingdom’s allies, and Will is chosen, along with his friend Horace, as special envoys to nearby Celtica. But the simple mission soon takes an unsettling turn – the Celticans have disappeared, their town abandoned. The scheming hand of Morgarath, it seems, has been far from idle. He has found a way to bring his legions over the once impassible eastern mountains and is planning to ambush the king’s army in a rout. Now with help many miles away, Will and Horace are the only ones standing in the way of the dark lord’s plans. They have shown great skill and courage in their training, but how will they fare in the face of true evil?
The book 'Ranger's Apprentice: The Burning Bridge’ by John Flanagan, was published by Random House in 2005. The book is set in the 643rd year of the Common Era in the Regions of Picta, Celtica and Araluen. The main characters; Will, Horace, Evalyn, Gilan and Halt are forced to use their own specialties to their advantage to stop Morgarath and his army of vicious man beast Wargals.
I loved the book completely but I mostly liked the parts when Will, Horace and Evalyn are trying to find the Wargals plans. I highly recommend this book to anybody who anybody who loves fantasy adventure books and is looing for a new adventure series. I think the author wrote this book because he enjoys making these medieval style fantasy books. I would recommend this book to people between the ages of 10 and 15. This book reminds me of a book I used to read called ‘The Wizard’s Apprentice.’ The events in this book will have you wanting to read more.
I've only read the first book in the Ranger's Apprentice series after a little boy I was babysitting lent it to me, but it is well worth a read! A great action book. A bit reminiscent of the Deltora Quest books, crossed with the Eragon series.
An awsome book I couldn't put it down it was full of action and adventure. I say read the series the books are brilliant.
I loved the sheer determination and courage of the main characters when the situation proved to be one without an escape route. It was well written, and well thought out. The fact that Will does indeed get captured proves that things don't always go well, irrespective of whether the actual mission is successful. It was brilliant.
Awesome book! It's so heroic, so daring. I find it amazing how people so young, so important to many people, can be understanding of the sacrifices they will make, and the consequences involved.
