The young Thomas Peaceful looks back on his childhood...
When he grew up in the countryside and later on on the battlefields of the First World War.
That it is a bit of a love story.
The Amber Spyglass
Somewhere nice and quiet.
Two brothers who grow up together and though they are three years apart, they are the closest of friends, and share everything, including their love for a girl called Molly, who is a good friend of theirs.
Later on they go off to war, even though the younger brother, whose perspective the book is written from, is underage.
It takes you through all their emotions and feelings, and has a great storyline which is based on a true part of history. It has a very sad ending.
Fiction books about the war, and books about friendship. And other books by Michael Morpurgo.
Alone so you can concentrate on it and really get into it.
Maybe a march??
the life of a boy named Tommo Peaceful, it tells about his life before he joined the army and went off to war. The book is set around 1900 - 1914 when the war started. the book is about the relationship between the two most important people in Tommo's life, Molly and Charlie, Charlie was his older brother and Molly was his best friend. They would do everything together and came very close friends. The book is a story of death, love, separation, innocence and courage. There are many sad aspects of the book.
when they go off to war, it's like the style of the book had completely changed or it was a completely different book, it was no longer a drama or a sad movie it had become an action movie. This was good because it kept the reader interested.
the book Gallipoli, as it is set in times of war. If you don't like war books this is not the one for you.
in the book store so you don't have to buy it because it is actually a bit short so you would probably finish the book in less than a week and you probably wouldn't read this book again.
the theme music from the movie Atonement, because Atonement is about love and war just like Private Peaceful so they both have very similar styles of music both would be sad and action packed in different parts of the song. The music needs to have a soft sense to it but then it needs to get a bit louder and more action like towards the middle.
the life of a young boy named Thomas Peaceful, before and during WWI. Living in England on the land of a Colonel with his loving mother, a mentally disabled brother and another brother, Charlie, and Molly, a girl who becomes their friend, Thomas, or Tommo, lives a hard life with many tragedies among the way, most of all, the death of his father which he believes he caused. Examined throughout the novel is the relationship between the two brothers, Tommo and Charlie, and Molly. Then one day sixteen year old Tommo signs up with his brother and goes to war. In the War, the two brothers look out for each other, until tragedy occurs...
the fact they didn't skip straight into the war on the tenth page, as that would have ruined the atmosphere of the book because it's a drama, not just a period or war drama. It details the life of Tommo from his point of view. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it is because it shows the facts only Tommo knows and the ones Tommo doesn't, making it more realistic.
the movie Gallipoli, World War I movies and books and other stories which explore a sudden transition from normal to war.
in a quiet place, like at home in your room or in the library.
Something kind of folksy for the first bits with Tommo and the rest living in the country, and innocent. Then, for all the sad bits, a good instrumental sad piece; and for the war scenes, a loud, confident with a bit of sadness piece with a lot of drums.
