Author:  Rupert Matthews

As Führer of the Third Reich, Hitler was responsibile for deciding the German war aims in 1939. As head of the Armed Forces from 4 February 1938 he was also responsible for the overall Wehmacht strategy intented to achieve these aims.

Hitler: Military commander examines Hitler's key military decisions during the Second World War, and assesses how far these decisions were military justified in light of the inteligence available at the time.

Perhaps most importantly it tackles the larger questions of how non-German former corpral, albiet the holder of the Iron Cross 1st Class, managed to take personal control of an army with the Prussian traditions of the German Army, appoint, sack the sentence to death its generals at will, to lead it into a World War it was not prepared for, and, ultimately, to destroy it.

This book is set in the period of World War 2. In the book the author describes the roles that most of what Hitler and his generals do. The book is basically about Hitlers reign over the German Army and the controls of their people.

In the book, the author Rupert Matthews goes into great detail with his facts and historical events. This brings out a overwhelming feeling of knowledge when you read deeply. It also gives this book a certain character to it and always leaves you wanting more.

In my opinion i would recommend this book to other people who enjoy history books. it is a enjoyable novel and i hope i will have the honour of reading it again in the near future. I hope everyone will have the same experience i had reading this wonderful book.
