Book Review on ‘Girls in Love,’

‘Girls in Love’ is a book written by Jacqueline Wilson and illustrated by Nick Sharrat. It is written casually, about 3 teenage girls in Year 9. They are facing troubles with parents, boyfriends and school.

The main character is Ellie, the point of view the book is written from. Her best friend’s names are Magda and Nadine, who are also main characters.

The first main event (also very important, so I won’t spoil it all) in the story is Ellie meeting Dan on her holiday to Wales, where her holiday house. The event is funny and so is the rest of the book. Dan seems to be a bit nerdy and Ellie doesn’t like him – no, she almost hates him! It really explains the total meaning of the book, and without it, it would have a very bad structure.

Fortunately, the book continues to put you on the edge of your seat till the end, when everything’s better – this structure is like many other books, but this book is very different! Girls in Love is bound to keep you on edge and some of it wouldn’t be great for a bedtime story – some of it is actually a bit alarming or gory.

I would recommend it for ages 11 – 15. It is very suitable for this age category in different areas.

Overall, the book is a great read, and I greatly recommend it for those who don’t want a long book – but want a fun time.
