Book review- Diary of a wimpy: The Last Straw
The book diary of a wimpy kid is taken place in America at a school and the setting doesn’t really affect what the story is about because it’s at a elementary school. The main characters is Gregory which is Greg, My favourite character is Rodrick because he’s funny, cool and plays a really great character. The major problem in the story is Greg thinking his dad is taking him to a school on summer vacation after seeing a guy who used to be very very bad into a good guy that works at cinemas, Greg’s dad Frank, used to not get along with him and now he talked to him for so long, after that he thought about bringing the boys to the school the he went to make them good and responsible kids. Gregory try’s proving that he doesn't need to go to that school especially on summer vacation by wanting to go to a outside camping and greg’s mum says Rodrick should go too, where it all goes wrong. It is solved because at the end Greg’s dad says he isn’t going to the school that he thought he had to go on summer vacation and then it ends happy.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Last Straw is a great and funny book. I have recently finised it and it was great. From Greg trying to impress his crush to his dad trying to make his son like him, this book is hilarious and a book that I think everyone shoukd read. Not only does this book interest you in every way, but it has various amounts of humorous moments. I think everyone shound read this book because it will make you be more interested in funny books and this type of genre.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a book by Jeff Kinney (published by Amulet Books on January 13, 2009). The story takes place mostly at Greg Heffley’s house and school. Greg is a 14 year old kid who always gets into trouble.
The main characters of the book are Greg Heffley, Rodrick Heffley, Frank Heffley, Rowley and Susan. But its mostly Greg and Rowley who appear in the book because they are the ones who are always up to mischief. Susan, Greg's mum, appears in the book when Greg gets into trouble or when he needs something from his mother or father.
The basic plot of the story is that Greg is trying to get out of doing any work and is always playing video games instead of enjoying some fresh air. Frank, Greg's father, tries to bond with Greg but he doesn’t want to he'd rather play twisted wizard. There aren’t really any spoilers to the book because its the same as the other ones but the newer books do have a lot of spoilers.
The book was great I enjoyed it a lot, although it could get boring and a bit dry at times. It was a great book over all. The part I really enjoyed was during the middle of the book because that’s where it really got interesting. I also didn't enjoy that the Heffley family kept on fighting; that drained the book. I don't mind if they fight, but not constantly it just makes it boring
I recommend this book to all ages and to those who like adventurous books. I think everyone would enjoy this book; all the people I know who have read the series have enjoyed them a lot. I think the author wrote this book simply to make people laugh and just relax and enjoy some time alone.
The book jumps right into action, which I personally like although it may get boring due to the fighting. The plot always very interesting and makes you want to read on and on, which some authors lack the skill of doing. I don't think this book has a particular age that it can be read. I compare the book to the other Diary of a Wimpy Kid books
I give this book a 5 out of 5.
