Grace – by Morris Gleitzman

Grace is another fantastic novel from well-known author, Morris Gleitzman. In this novel, a young girl named Grace lives in a community that bonds over their strict religion. In Grace’s religion, touching or being with ‘an outsider’ is considered sinful. So when Grace completes her school project, which is not acceptable according to the Church Elders, she must be punished for her sins. But that is certainly not Grace’s first sin – or the last, and it seems that Grace’s list of sins is constantly becoming longer and gradually the consequences for her sins become worst and worst. But Grace can’t be the only sinner, can she?

I really enjoyed this short novel from one of my favourite authors. Grace is a quick read but extremely difficult to put down once you get into it. For me, Grace’s world was vastly different from the world I live. Whilst reading the story, I always found myself thinking ‘I’ll just read one more chapter’, then after I read another chapter I would be so intrigued to know what happened next that I would just keep reading and reading. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick read and a brilliant story.
