Not too shy to shout it out to all the world
I suppose it’s not very cool to admit to Googling yourself, but you know, EVERYONE DOES IT. And when you have a book out it makes professional sense to see if people are reviewing it or not. Similarly, if you use Twitter then it makes sense to set up some saved searches to see if anyone is tweeting about your book. Then you can message them to thank them for reading it.
One of the unexpected pleasures about searching `This Is Shyness’ has not been finding comments about my book, but realising how much people tweet about their shyness. Apparently it’s a perfectly normal human condition. Here are some recent `shyness’ tweets:
`I saw this cute guy again omg he smile at me and I did and I went all shy Grrr what is wrong with me, I hate my shyness LOL’
`been kicking myself all day for having a shyness that is, well, criminally vulgar, this needs to stop.’
`Where is all this random shyness comin from? This is not me!’
`Shyness is one of the major reasons why there are so many unhappy people in the world.’
I suppose it’s comforting to know there are many others out there afflicted with the blushes and can’t-string-a-sentence-togethers. But I wonder if anyone tweets about how just how blisteringly super-confident they’re feeling?
